If you have upgraded to the new iOS 5 and have jailbroken it, you would have installed a lot of jailbroken apps from Cydia app store. And you might have also noticed that some of the require the Activator app. And when you install the Activator app, some of the apps dont run full screen on the iPhone, they just occupy quarter of the screen on the iPhone. This is really annoying, but not fixable. There is a fix to this issue, but again, its temporary.
You can follow the steps given in this post to fix the issue, but when you reboot your iPhone or if something else happens, the issue will occur again. For this, you will have to redo the steps given here. You can do the following now:
Step 1: Open SBSettings
Step 2: Tap “Power”, and select “Safe Mode”
Step 3: Once booted into safe mode, tap the status bar when it says “Safe Mode”. This will bring up a prompt; tap “Restart” to restart into normal mode
Step 4: Launch an offending app, and the issue should be resolved
But you will notice that at some point, the issue will occur again. So as I have mentioned earlier, you will have to redo the steps given above. Some users say that there is a fix in the Cydia app store for this, a tweak called WinterFix. But WinterFix will only fix Winterboard issues on iOS 5, it will not fix the quarter screen issue on the iPhone running iOS 5. At least for me, this is what happened. May be, as some people say, it might fix the quarter screen issue on your iPhone.
To know this, there is no other option but to try it out yourself. So do try it and let me know if it works for you.
